Build up your layers: Painting a portrait is a gradual process. Start with an underpainting to establish the basic values, then gradually build up the layers to add more detail.
Pay attention to the details: Portraits are all about capturing the details that make a person unique. Pay attention to things like the subject’s hair, eyes, and clothing to capture their likeness.
